Every individual and every organization in the world has an inherent responsibility to leave the world better than when they arrived. This responsibility, we believe, is perhaps most significant for companies that have potential to greatly impact the world. We believe Viridian shares in that responsibility and are proud to be able to be proactively bettering our communities and our world. We call it the Viridian Sustainability Initiative it's our pledge to empower customers and associates to take part in our mission to improve the world and the communities in which we live. More than just a pledge, it's our way of putting this belief into action as we work together to realize our vision. The Initiative provides resources and opportunities for service and involvement in many projects targeted to protect and preserve our world.
Improving the Environment in Our Communities
Sustainability starts at home. Viridian Energy is committed to improving the communities we service. We believe that focusing on sustainability will improve lives and preserve the Earth for future generations. To support this vision, we regularly organize and participate in community-service activities. Our active customers and independent associates are proud to be a part of a company that considers puts good old-fashioned hard work, creativity and resources into bettering our communities. Join us at one of our upcoming events – we'd love to have your support in our efforts close to home.
Improving the World: 7 Continents in 7 Years
As a Viridian family, we take our global citizenship seriously. Our sustainability efforts will truly reach the world through our 7 continents in 7 years program. Each year, Viridian Energy will research and execute a sustainability project internationally that we feel will have a significant positive influence on the international community. Just as every great journey begins with a single step, any significant change happens through many individual efforts. Our global sustainability efforts are part of what we consider our responsibility in being a socially responsible company. In Fall of 2010, we will travel to Brazil to work on conservation and reforestation efforts. In 2011 the Sustainability Initiative will take us to Africa. We look forward to many rewarding years of service and hard work as we strive to do our part in leaving the world better than when we found it.
“We can no longer think of corporate responsibility as somehow separate from a company’s primary business function, or continue to view it as an extra and unwanted cost. As business leaders and consumers, we must begin to view it as an intrinsic part of a sustainable enterprise. We must learn to embrace the reality that sustainability creates a competitve advantage, contributes to economic growth and is in harmony with our responsibility as global citizens.”
